June is National Adopt-a-Cat Month sponsored by the American Humane Association. Each year thousands of kittens are born, adding to the millions of cats in shelters across the United States. If you are thinking about getting a cat or kitten stop by your local animal shelter! Local shelters in our area include the Illinois Humane Society, Animal Protective League, Sangamon County Animal Control, and Forever Home Feline Ranch. The dedicated volunteers at each of these facilities would be more than happy to help you pick out a furry friend.
